That is, literally, physically stole it.

Where I assume the bits responsible for making the water hot once residedโbut then I really have no idea.
Woke up this morning with no hot water, went to work without having showered, came home on my break to sort out what I thought must be a billing problem, and after several calls ended up speaking to the body corporate.
Turns out that last night someone physically stole the mechanical parts of the apartment complex that provide the hot water.ย Like, to the entire complex.
Who would do such a thing and why completely eludes me, but there you have it.
The big cylinder on the left looks like a hot water boiler to me. Maybe the bit stolen contained the water pumps or something?
Either way, I am rather surprised too. I imagine the parts must be worth a little bit on the black market, or else even the amount of metal alone would fetch a price from a recycler.. but it’s amazing someone would go to the effort to do so.
I used to put this sort of behaviour down as “only in London!” would it occur, but I guess as times change, ridiculous, organised theft will become more common in Melbourne too.. ๐
Oh for the love of GOD!
It appears that some enterprising thief has found his/her niche…
You were not the first, Alex to suffer this very bemusing and scathingly inconsiderate crime….
Residents in Bell Street Preston know your pain :/
Didn’t know you took showers! ๐
Stuck in a tram all day—enough said. ๐
My comment, October 11. Yours, November 1. How long was this tram ride. :S
No, I’ve just been asleep for many days. ๐
